ABOUT FOREST

During the recent years my paintings are about nature; both broad sceneries and, on the other hand, intimate details. Since the end of the 1990, the basis of my paintings lie in the physical landscapes. In the spring 2005 I started to paint Forest-series. Constantly I’m searching experiences of forest by painting my observations.
Traditional realistic painting is the best way for me to reach for my goals. Traditional painting, it’s lessons and methods, are relevant and useful even today. I’m also interested in classical painting technics - it’s skillfullness and ‘know how’!

While painting, I’m not trying to be purely objective - already choosing the subject or defining the final scenery are personal statements or arguments made by the artist himself. Inevitably, I’m also observing the forests through the lens of our culture. A shift from an authentic scenery towards painted scenery is a complicated process during which you have to make several choices and interpretations in order to get a satisfactory conclusion.
